If you are staying in the University residence halls, the distance from the airport to Christopher Newport University (CNU) is just under 5 miles, and a taxi ride should cost about $15. The distance to the Newport News Omni Hotel is slightly less. The Norfolk International Airport (ORF) is about 20 miles away; shuttle service is available through Carey VIP Airport Connection for $45 one way for a single person, but up to 4 people may join as companion fares for $5 each. Those flying into the Norfolk Airport who want to take shuttles may wish to coordinate their arrival times with others through the ChLA listserv <chla@lists.cnu.edu>. An Amtrak station is located about 4 miles from campus, slightly further to the hotel, for those who wish to travel by train. |

I-64 also connects Norfolk and Newport News, so if traveling by car from the airport, take I-64 West. * From I-64: Exit 258-A, J. Clyde Morris Boulevard South (Rt. 17). Continue straight and cross Warwick Boulevard. The street becomes Avenue of the Arts. Bear to your right on Avenue of the Arts. Turn right out of the roundabout and into the University. Turn right at the first stop sign. Take first left and turn left into large parking lot. |
